January 6, 2021:

The Nassau County Bar Association condemns, in the strongest possible terms, today’s assault on the U.S. Capitol by violent protesters.

Storming the Capitol and disrupting the democratic process of our government is not a peaceful protest. It is criminal conduct and we condemn this violence. This Country was founded on the rule of law and such rule of law must be respected and protected. The peaceful transition of power from one elected president to the next is a venerated American tradition going back to George Washington and serves as a model to the rest of the world. All government officials and citizens of this great country must support a peaceful transition of power, and thereby protect our Constitution, democracy and the rule of law.

The Nassau County Bar Association urges our duly elected leaders to uphold our Constitution and the rule of law and demands the violent protesters cease such un-American actions.
